Nilappanai Kilangu is a plant of grass family having its starch and nutrients rich roots under the earth. Its roots are taken, cut into pieces, dried well, ground into very fine powder. It is rich in nutrients and used by our ancestors since long log years ago.

It is called as Black Musli or Golden Eye Grass in English, Muslikhand or Sayahmusli in Hindi, Nelamulli or Talamulli in Telugu, Nelapana in Malyalam, Nelatale or Nelatalegadda in Kannada. Its Botanical Name is Curculigo Orchioides.
