Pathimugam also called as Jappan Wood or Brazil Wood in english is a herb of South Indian origin having blood red color and its own unique aroma. When soaked in water, it makes the water to a reddish colour with its herbal essence. It is regularly consumed as a herbal water in Kerala and in several parts of Tamilnadu. 

This Pathimugam raw stems are sewed into pieces and available as dry raw material. It is also called as Jappan Redwood in English, Patang in Hindi, Patangah in Sanskrit, Patangam in Telugu, Chappanga or Sappangada in Kannada. Its Botanical name is Caesalpinia Sappan.
