Poovarasan also called as Indian Tulip in English is a big tree having leaves same as Arasa Ilai or Peepal Leaf. Its barks are collected, dried well and ground into very fine powder. Its being used by our ancestors to make a hair cleaning powder and other herbal remedies. 

It is called as Indian Tulip or Umbrella Tree or Portia Tree in English, Paras Pipal in Hindi, Poo Paruthi in Malayalam, Ganga Ravi in Telugu, Parisha in Sanskrit. Its Botanical Name is Thespesia Populnea.
