Vetpalai is a small tree from which the leaves and fruits are used as an ingredient in various Siddha and Ayurveda Preparations. Its leaves are collected, dried well and available as raw material. It is being used by our ancestors long long ago. 

It is also called as Irumpaalai in Tamil, Sweet Indrajao or Ivory Tree in English, Swethakutaja in Sanskrit, Dudhi or Kalakuda in Hindi, Ayyappala or Danthappala in Malayalam, Ankuduchettu or Tella Paala in Telugu, Ajamara or Kare Kodasiga in Kannada. Its Botanical Name is Wrightia Tinctoria.
