Thottal Sinungi also called as Thottal Vadi, Thottal Surungi, Thottal Chinungi in tamil according to its natural ability to shrink its leaves when touched by our fingers. It leaves along with the entire plant is collected, dried well and ground into very fine powder. It is then filtered to make it free from unground particles. It is being used by our forefathers since thousands of years ago.

It is called as Touch me not, Sensitive Plant, Shy Plant in English, Chui Mui or Lajwanti in Hindi, Attaapatti in Telugu, Thottal Vadi in Malayalam, Muttidare Muni in Kannada. Its Botanical name is Mimosa Pudica.
