Arasu is a well known tree for all people of India. It grows all over India in all climate conditions. Its leaves are collected, dried well and ground into very fine powder. It is then filtered to make it free from unground leaves. It is being used by our people since ancient days.

It is also called as Thirumaram, Kanavam in Tamil. It is called as Pippal or Aswatha in Hindi, Ravi or Aswatha or Pippalamu in Telugu, Pimpal in Marathi, Pimpala or Aswantha in Kannada. Its Botanical Name is Ficus Religiosa.
